Kolo Toure shares what he said to journalist about Arsenal that came true in win over Chelsea tonight

Arsenal sent a message out to their Premier League title rivals on Tuesday night by putting Chelsea to the sword at the Emirates Stadium.

It has been said that a week is a long time in football, and this has certainly proven the case with the Gunners over the past seven days.

A week ago, Arsenal had not long stumbled against Aston Villa and would go on to lose to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, denting their confidence.

However, the Gunners have since bounced back by beating Wolves at Molineux before hammering Chelsea 5-0 at the Emirates.

Leandro Trossard opened the scoring against the Blues to give Arsenal the perfect start, and they were able to keep their opponents at bay until the break.

The Gunners were quick out of the starting blocks in the second half and went on to hammer Chelsea with braces from Kai Havertz and Ben White.

It was a real team effort from Arsenal, with every player stepping up to the plate and delivering a display worthy of a title-chasing side.

Gunners cult hero Kolo Toure touched upon this post-match, as he revealed what he said to a journalist who seemingly asked him about Bukayo Saka’s recent lack of goals.

What did Kolo Toure say about Arsenal ahead of win over Chelsea?

Toure said on Premier League Productions (23/4/24, 22:09): “Before the game one of the journalists asked me if Saka needs to score more goals.

“I said this is the moment you don’t want to count only on your best players, you need everyone around them to perform. That is what Arsenal did today.”

Toure is spot on. As good as Saka is for the Gunners, a team can’t be expected to rely on one player too much. Things like fatigue, injury and suspension can leave them short.

Obviously Saka did very well against Chelsea and, even though he didn’t get on the scoresheet, other players did, and really it can’t have gone any better for the Gunners overall.

Arsenal couldn’t have asked for a better result and confidence boost ahead of the north London derby. Their rivals must’ve been a bit nervous seeing how they did.
