A court has sentenced an FSB agent to 15 years in prison for directing Russian missiles at Zaporizhzhia. He turned out to be a former Communist Party deputy of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, according to the SSU (Security Service of Ukraine) website.

The investigation found that it was at his coordinates that the Russians carried out a series of airstrikes on the city in April-May 2022. As a result of enemy shelling, three residents were killed, 30 private houses were destroyed, and one of the region's industrial enterprises was damaged.

The perpetrator turned out to be a former Communist Party deputy of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, who in 2001 was sentenced to 6 years in prison for planning a state coup in Ukraine.

In late 2022, he was recruited remotely by an FSB officer to gather intelligence on the locations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ukraine's defense plants.

To carry out the enemy's instructions, the traitor covertly extracted the necessary information from his former party members. The agent then personally traveled to the area to conduct covert photo and video surveillance of Ukrainian objects.

He transmitted the information to the FSB through a popular messenger with a detailed description of the potential target and the surrounding area.

SSU (Security Service of Ukraine) counterintelligence officers arrested the Russian agent in May 2023.

Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service employees, the court found the former deputy guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed in conditions of martial law).

The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
