'Honey hush': Alina Habba skewered for claiming judges try to make her look incompetent

Newsmax

Former President Donald Trump's lawyer Alina Habba claimed Tuesday she has been made to look incompetent by judges and that fellow Trump attorney Todd Blanche, recently scolded for "losing all credibility," had been subjected to the same treatment.

During an appearance on Newsmax, Habba defended the questionable performance of Trump's lead attorney in his criminal hush money case during a hearing over 10 possible violations of his limited gag order.

"This is the same methodology some judges have done with me," Habba said. "And the left wing media, they'll run with it. They try to make attorneys on the team look or seem like they don't know what they're doing."

Habba was repeatedly scolded by U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan and Justice Arthur Engoron during Trump's New York civil court trials over her requests for trial breaks and her client's outburst on the witness stand.

She recalled attempting to enter evidence as one judge was "making comments that would make the press believe that I didn’t know what I was doing," she said. "They do this intentionally."

Habba suspects Blanche received similar treatment from judge Juan Merchan as he defended Trump in a gag order contempt hearing Tuesday.

"To say 'Todd, you're losing credibility because there's no case on a president being gagged and his First Amendment rights being taken away,'" Habba said, "Well let me tell you why there's no precedent on that because it's never happened before!'"

This take was roundly ridiculed on social media.

"Honey, Hush," replied @BY1959.

"I kept screwing everything up and the judge was so mean!" parodied @AccioStickThing. "He kept telling me how wrong I was and how 'there's a process'!"

"She didn't need the press to tell us that she didnt know what she was doing," Zorek Richards wrote. "It was quite obvious."

"Every last little thing that happens that she does not like, she blames it on somebody that doesn’t agree with Trump politics," concluded @pithypacky. "Tiresome."
