Ally McCoist names the possible Erik ten Hag replacement who would excite Man Utd fans most

The search for Erik ten Hag’s replacement at Manchester United seems to be underway, but options are limited. Now, Ally McCoist has shared which name he thinks would excite fans the most.

For Erik ten Hag, survival this summer looks less and less likely as it seems he can’t catch a break.

Manchester United therefore will be in the position of beginning a new era within the new era.

But options are limited and the likes of Julian Nagelsmann is already off the table.

This leaves slim pickings, but potentially some incredible options should United make the right decision.

But for Ally McCoist, there is one name which is more exciting than all the others for Ineos to choose from.

Here’s who he said…

Ally McCoist names which manager target would be most exciting for Old Trafford

Speaking on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning, pundit Ally McCoist was discussing Manchester United’s managerial situation.

In doing so, he explained which potential arrival he thinks would excite fans at Old Trafford the most.

“I think, I may be wrong, I think [Zinedine] Zidane would excite them more than anyone of the names you mentioned there, I really do, but I am not sure I can see that happening.”

Zidane would be an exciting appointment given his name and track record, however, the chances of it happening do seem slim.

Jeff Stelling agreed with this and McCoist as he explained: “Look, it’s a massive club, it’s a massive name, so, I think, you know, he will be a great shout. I don’t necessarily see it happening.”

But despite it being an exciting appointment and the chances being slim, really neither of those reasons matter as he likely isn’t the right man to replace Ten Hag.

Who should be the top choice for the next Manchester United manager?

It’s the question everyone is wondering and we, like anyone else, have preferences and ideas as to who we’d love to see replace Ten Hag should it come to that.

It’s something that United must get absolutely spot on.

For example, many fans may see the work Kieran McKenna has done and consider him a great choice. While this would be true, he still represents far too great a risk.

The likes of Thiago Motta is exciting but ultimately not the right fit. While Gareth Southgate and Graham Potter are two dreaded options that few want to see arrive.

Ruben Amorim is, however, the one we can’t help but think should be prioritised as a Liverpool deal seems unlikely.

He’d be the best option this summer for us, and so United need to make it happen.
