It is a bike ride suitable for all abilities from absolute beginners to regular club riders, with routes of 34, 62 and 104 miles.

The charity is asking cyclists to set up a £50 fundraising target in exchange for their free charity place on any route.

The organiser, Matt Porter said: “The Newark Castle Sportive is a non competitive cycling event that is open to anyone with a bike.

“You don’t need any previous experience to take part and it certainly isn’t a race.

“Bringing the event to Newark Castle was always a big thing for this event as it originally started from the show ground but it’s now into it’s third year at the Castle highlighting the heritage of Newark itself.

“Being a non competitive event, it doesn’t require any road closures or cause any disruption to the local community so it does have a great atmosphere in the town centre on the day of the event.

The event’s charity partner, the Children’s Bereavement Fund have free places available for anyone wanting to fundraise for them so it’s a great opportunity to help a fantastic local charity whilst riding your bike.”

Novice riders can take part in the short route which is 34 Miles riding any bike, in the safety of an environment.

The route is fully signed with mechanics, medics and a halfway feed stop, there isn’t a time limit and there’s help phone number to call.

For the more experienced and progressing riders, there are the medium and long routes available, all fully signed, easy to follow routes with great feed stops along the way.

A decent level of experience is recommended to tackle the 104 mile route.

Last year, the Children’s Bereavement Centre had 14 charity riders who collectively raised over £2,000 which could help fund 8eight weeks of specialist one-to-one bereavement counselling for 10 children or young people changing their lives and their families.

People who wish to take part in the cycle, there are still 10 places available. They can email directly katie@childrensberevementcentre.co.uk to save their spot.
