Mateo Kovacic now uses just four words to describe Bernardo Silva

Mateo Kovacic has now used just four words to describe Bernardo Silva.

In the past, Kovacic has only had kind things to say about his teammates at Manchester City, having also experienced playing against them for years.

When asked to use one word to describe Kevin De Bruyne, the Croatian international simply replied, “Genius.”

Similarly, the former Inter Milan midfielder was asked to do the same for Rodri.

However, the 29-year-old admitted that the Spanish international was such a magnificent player that one word was not enough to sum up his brilliance before eventually saying, “Engine.”

During his time at Chelsea, Mateo Kovacic perhaps viewed Pep Guardiola’s side and their players as rivals.

Mateo Kovacic uses just four words to describe Bernardo Silva

The £30 million man was in the Blues’ squad, as they beat City in the Champions League final in 2021.

While in the Premier League, Mateo Kovacic and his teammates must have been determined to usurp Manchester City.

However, that was said than done for them, not just during Frank Lampard’s reign but even when Thomas Tuchel was in charge.

Being a Manchester City player now, Mateo Kovacic knows the ins and outs of Bernardo Silva, both on and off the pitch.

The pair are no longer rivals and are now partners in crime on the pitch.

Watching the Sky Blues’ number 20 train and dedicate himself to his craft off the pitch must have given Kovacic a newfound understanding of the kind of professional he is.

Playing a guessing game with Josko Gvardiol on his channel, to tell his countryman the player in question he had to name was Bernardo Silva, Mateo Kovacic said, “The wizard.”

“Funny guy”, he added, in a video with the club’s in-house media.

Mateo Kovacic must especially appreciate Bernardo Silva

In our view, it is clear to see that Mateo Kovacic hugely admires Bernardo Silva, having labelled him as “the wizard.”

Understandably so as well, as Kovacic is a technician himself and as a result, he must rate the Portuguese international extremely highly, as he is well and truly a magician with the ball at his feet.

Bernardo Silva shares certain traits with Mateo Kovacic in terms of his technical excellence, his balance, ability to go past his man and break lines.

Considering a player like the former AS Monaco attacker has mastered several footballing fundamentals, Kovacic must perhaps even look to him to further hone his craft.
