'We just want to say': Conor Gallagher sends message to Chelsea fans after 5-0 loss to Arsenal

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has been speaking following his side’s heavy loss against Arsenal last night.

Chelsea were beaten 5-0 at the Emirates and Conor Gallagher captained the team in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

He has now tried to send a message to supporters, who would have been disgusted with what they saw last night.

Of course, the Blues were without their best player Cole Palmer and Mauricio Pochettino is not too sure when he will be back.

However, there was no excuse for losing by five goals, especially when the score was only 1-0 at half-time.

Conor Gallagher’s message to Chelsea fans

With how this season has gone, Chelsea fans will not be in a forgiving mood.

The club are in ninth place and remain in danger of missing out on European football once again.

Nevertheless, Gallagher has still tried to apologise to the Chelsea supporters.

Speaking to the club’s official website after his side’s hammering, the 24-year-old said: “We are really upset and disappointed. It was nowhere near good enough. We just want to say sorry to our fans who came to watch that.

“It was nowhere near good enough and we will give everything we can to put it right in the next one. We started too slow. There were too many mistakes, it was too lethargic as a collective and we weren’t at it. We have only got ourselves to look at and there is work to be done.”

Chelsea’s performance against Arsenal unforgivable

Gallagher is one Chelsea player who definitely deserves some leeway.

He has worked his socks off this season, making 73 tackles in the Premier League. With that number, the Englishman is just outside the top 10 players for that category.

Most of his team-mates, however, should not be forgiven for what happened at the Emirates last night, while the manager also has to take some responsibility.

Chelsea need a win against Aston Villa on Saturday, which will not be easy, otherwise things could be about to get real ugly for Pochettino.
