Report: How Jason Wilcox has now told Erik ten Hag to set his team up against Sheffield United

Manchester United need to change.

The Red Devils have been dreadful for most of this season, and something has to give.

Erik ten Hag’s side have no style or substance about them, and before they start to worry too much about results, they need to start playing better.

Luckily, change is afoot at Old Trafford.

Indeed, there’s been a huge backroom overhaul after Jim Ratcliffe became a minority shareholder, and Jason Wilcox has now been inserted as the new Technical Director.

Wilcox has wasted no time in getting to work, and according to Alan Nixon, writing on his Patreon, the Technical Director has already given Ten Hag instructions on how to play tonight.

How Jason Wilcox has told Erik ten Hag to set Manchester United up

According to Nixon, Wilcox wants to move Manchester United into a new era.

The journalist claims that Wilcox has told Ten Hag to play a possession style of football from now on, starting from now in this evening’s game against Sheffield United.

The report states that Ten Hag is effectively on trial until the end of the season, and if no change is seen, a switch in the dugout will be made.

Erik ten Hag’s lucky timing

Erik ten Hag may have to implement a new style of play against the Blades on Wednesday, and there may not be a better time for United to experiment.

Indeed, if there’s any team in the league that you’d be able to try something new against, it’s Sheffield United.

With all due respect, the Blades have been truly terrible this season, and it really shouldn’t be difficult for United to play however they want against Chris Wilder’s side given the gulf in quality that should be there.

Then again, you’d have said the same this weekend against second-tier Coventry, and we all know how that one turned out.
