'One question mark': Luis Suarez could now miss Inter Miami game this weekend due to one factor - journalist

Luis Suarez could now reportedly miss Inter Miami’s upcoming MLS fixture against the New England Revolution due to one emerging problem.

The Herons have been in outstanding form this season with Tata Martino’s side heading into Saturday’s clash in Massachusetts top of the Supporters’ Shield standings with the likes of Lionel Messi and Suarez in great form.

The 37-year-old striker has bagged an impressive eight goals and six assists in all competitions this season for Inter Miami, with Suarez and Messi rediscovering their connection in the attack that once led the duo to immense success with FC Barcelona.

Yet there’s now a growing chance that Suarez could miss this weekend’s clash in New England.

New England Revolution’s playing surface could force Suarez to miss Inter Miami game

Speaking on Inside Inter Miami, the Miami Herald’s Michelle Kaufman noted that Suarez could miss this weekend’s away game due to the New England Revolution playing on an artificial turf stadium in the form of Gillette Stadium.

The home of NFL giants the New England Patriots, turf has slowly been phased out of top-flight soccer in the United States due to the problems the surface has given players across the years, namely in regards to ankles and knees.

And Suarez could now sit out this weekend’s trip up north because of the forward’s current injury problems, with Kaufman saying: “People are expecting to see Messi since he’s been playing, but there is one small caveat here, which is that there is artificial turf.

“Supposedly, Luis Suarez doesn’t like to play on turf. He has bad knees, he’s 37-years-old, and when he was playing in Brazil last season, he didn’t play in some of the games that were on artificial turf, so that’s one question mark.”

Herons can afford to rest Suaraz this weekend vs New England

Suarez might not want to miss a minute of this season with Inter Miami if fit and available, but given the Revolution’s playing surface and the damage playing on turf could cause, the Herons can afford to rest the attacker this weekend.

Indeed, Inter Miami are in fantastic form and faces a New England side currently sat bottom of the Eastern Conference, giving Martino the perfect opportunity to field a weakened XI and give the likes of Suarez extra rest for upcoming games.

With some big fixtures on the horizon, resting Suarez for this matchday could be ideal for Inter Miami, with the risk of the attacker picking up an injury simply too great this weekend.
