'Now everything is on hold': Liverpool talks with 'perfect' manager have now stalled after reaching 'key stage' - journalist

Liverpool are currently in pursuit of a new manager ahead of Jurgen Klopp stepping down from the Anfield hotseat this summer.

Over the past couple of days, speculation involving the Reds and one particular manager has intensified massively.

The manager in question is Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot, who is now said to be in talks with Liverpool about replacing Klopp.

Earlier today, TBR Football sources claimed that the Reds are now in talks with the Dutch club over their manager, who is keen on the move.

The report did also claim that Liverpool haven’t closed the door on other candidates, and are still in talks with other coaches.

So, where does that leave previous Liverpool frontrunner Ruben Amorim?

What is the latest on Liverpool and Ruben Amorim?

According to Rudy Galetti, “everything is on hold” between the Reds and the Sporting Lisbon boss. This is despite talks having previously reached a “key stage”.

In addition, Amorim has also been in talks with West Ham, but apparently he’s not convinced about the prospect of joining the Hammers.

With that in mind, the Portuguese coach seems increasingly likely to stay put at Sporting, particularly if they win the Primeira Liga title, Galetti relayed on X.

Amorim, who has been described as the ‘perfect‘ replacement for Klopp (Nigel Reo-Coker on CBS), is certainly a good shout for Liverpool.

However, you can’t deny that Slot doesn’t also tick plenty of boxes for the Reds, and he’d also be great to replace Klopp.

Whoever takes the reins, there’s no doubt that Michael Edwards and FSG have done their homework and will pick the best individual for the job.
