The one ‘obvious’ thing Arteta achieved this season even if Arsenal ‘don’t win title’

Journalist Henry Winter has now given his verdict on Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta as the Gunners seek to triumph in title race.

Arsenal thrashed Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Gunners were able to apply pressure on Manchester City and Liverpool with this victory, as they extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table. Arsenal right-back Ben White has now sent a message to the North London club’s title rivals, who must now respond with victories of their own in order to keep pace.

Mikel Arteta has done an extraordinary job at the Emirates Stadium since taking on the job in December 2019. It was the former Arsenal midfielder’s first step into management, having previously worked as an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

When the Spanish coach first took up residence in the dugout, the club were in a mess. There was a rift between the club and the fans, atmospheres at the Emirates Stadium were flat, and Champions League qualification looked to be a long way out of reach.

Arteta has gradually transformed the club. Not only are they now back in Europe’s elite club competition, in which they reached the quarter-finals for the first time in 14 years this season, but they are also now genuine Premier League title contenders.

How Mikel Arteta has turned things around at Arsenal

Progress has not always been smooth. There were periods of struggle, and times when the manager’s future looked to be in doubt. However, the club stuck behind their man throughout, and are now reaping the rewards for their faith in the ex-captain. Sporting director Edu has since explained why Arsenal didn’t sack Arteta when his team were struggling.

Arteta has been backed in the transfer market and has recruited smarty. The likes of Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, Gabriel Magalhaes, Ben White, Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Thomas Partey, amongst others, have all made an enormous impact since he secured their services.

He has also helped Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson, and Eddie Nketiah to establish themselves at first-team level having come through the club’s Hale End academy system.

Henry Winter heaps praise on Mikel Arteta after Arsenal beat Chelsea

Now, Henry Winter has shared his thoughts on Arteta. Reporting on X, he said “Mikel Arteta’s a very good manager. First, Trust the Process. Second, Feel the Progress…Good coach who improves players. Positive manager. Even if [Arsenal] don’t win title this season their development under Arteta is obvious.”

Of course, Arsenal fans will be desperate to see their side crowned champions this season. However, it is not in the Gunners’ hands. If Manchester City win all six of their remaining games then they will triumph in the league.

All Arteta’s men can do now is win all of their remaining fixtures and take the title race down to the wire. If they can manage that then they will have made huge progress again this season.
