BBC pundit simply in awe of Arsenal star's 'electric' performance vs Chelsea

Former England international and BBC Sport pundit Izzy Christiansen was blown away by one Arsenal player’s performance against Chelsea last night.

The Gunners were simply unplayable at the Emirates Stadium as goals from Leandro Trossard, Ben White and Kai Havertz secured a 5-0 win for the north London side against Chelsea, sending Arsenal top of the table at the time of writing.

It was one of Arsenal’s best performances to date in the Premier League this season, with the display breathing new life into Mikel Arteta’s push for the title and putting pressure on Liverpool and Manchester City to perform later this week.

Yet one Arsenal player caught the eye more than most on Tuesday.

Martin Odegaard praised after sensational Arsenal display vs Chelsea

Speaking on Football Daily, Christiansen was full of praise for Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, who last night equalled Mesut Ozil’s record for most chances created for the Gunners in a single Premier League match.

Indeed, it was one of Odegaard’s best performances to date in an Arsenal shirt, and the Norwegian international left fans and pundits utterly spellbound by his display last night against the Blues.

Christiansen said on Odegaard’s performance against Chelsea: “Odegaard was absolutely electric once again, the way he dictates the midfield and his positioning completely makes things tick for Arsenal.

“They were back to their best and they’re so good when they score early, it eliminates any type pressure and they start to grow into the game. They’ve done what they needed to do to keep the pressure up.”

Arsenal fans will want club captain to maintain this level of quality

With four games left this season, Arsenal need to be flawless if they’re to stand a chance of lifting the Premier League title, a prospect that now sounds likely after last night’s win against Chelsea.

And if Odegaard can keep his performance levels up like he did against the Blues, there’s no telling what Arsenal can do with their captain and midfield talisman at the top of his game.

Indeed, Odegaard can’t let his game drop even by 1% between now and the end of the season, and Arsenal’s title hopes could rest on the playmaker putting on a few more magical displays.
