PS Plus Essential's games lineup is typically revealed on the last Wednesday of a given month, but that isn't the case this month. Here's why.
You may be expecting to see the PS Plus Essential May 2024 games show up today, but unfortunately, things are a little different this month. Typically, the PS Plus Essential lineup for a given month is announced on the final Wednesday of the month prior. The new month's games are then released on the first Tuesday of that month. So for example, the March PS Plus Essential games were revealed on Wednesday, February 28 and were added to the service on Tuesday, March 5.
As today is the final Wednesday of April, you'd expect to see PlayStation reveal the PS Plus Essential May 2024 games at the usual time of 4.30pm GMT / 12:30pm EST / 9:30am PST, which would then go live on the subscription service next Tuesday. But next Tuesday is still April people! It's in these instances, where the first day of the new month begins on a Wednesday, that Sony 'delays' its PS Plus announcements. So here's what's actually happening with next month's PS Plus Essential May 2024 games
When are the PS Plus Essential May 2024 games revealed?
The PS Plus Essential May 2024 games reveal time is set for next Wednesday, May 1 at 4:30pm BST / 11:30am EDT / 8:30am PDT, which is when a post will appear on the PlayStation Blog announcing which titles you can expect to see next month. The free games will then go live for PS Plus Essential members (as well as those in the premium tiers who also get the content of the tiers below).to redeem and download the following Tuesday, May 7.
So you'll only need to wait an extra week before you can find out what's next for the roster. I'm sure you can fill the time with something like Sand Land or Stellar Blade in the meantime, and I know you still haven't finished Dragon's Dogma 2.
The plus side to this, however, is that you'll have an extra week to redeem and download the PS Plus April 2024 games, which include:
- Immortals of Aveum (PS5)
- Minecraft Legends (PS4 | PS5)
- Skul: The Hero Slayer (PS4 | PS5)
These will be available until the PS Plus Essential May 2024 games release on Tuesday, May 7, and you don't even need to download them to keep them, redeeming them is good enough.
