Ohio State WR commit Chris Henry Jr. is new No. 1 prospect in 2026 On3 Industry Ranking

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. has been touted as an elite pass-catching prospect for some time.

Now, following the latest recruiting industry updates, the Ohio State commitment checks in as the No. 1 player in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The 6-foot-4.5, 185-pounder has been pledged to the Buckeyes since July 28 and has continued to boost his stock. He was recently a top performer for On3 at the Under Armour Los Angeles camp last month and earned high praise from scouting and rankings assistant Cody Bellaire.

“It is no mystery that Chris Henry came into today’s UA camp with lofty expectations and it’s safe to say he definitely met those expectations on Sunday afternoon. The long, athletic pass catcher put together a teach tape for wide receivers during the individual period of practice,” Bellaire wrote. “He is so clean, smooth and polished when it comes to getting in and out of his breaks at the top of his routes and at the catch point. The way he attacks the football and plucks it with his finger tips is exactly how coaches wish every pass catcher on their team would catch the football. Plus, at 6-foot-4+ with length, he has a tremendous catch radius that allows him to reel in passes other receivers simply can’t reach.”

Henry is currently the lone member of the Buckeyes’ 2026 class, but the elite recruit is a headlining addition for Ryan Day and Co. Henry is the son of the late former NFL wide receiver Chris Henry, who played for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Chris Henry Scouting Summary

On3’s Scouting and Rankings team writes this of Henry as a prospect:

“Big receiver with a rare combination of size, athleticism and coordination as a young prospect. Measured in at over 6-foot-4.5 and around 185 pounds prior to his sophomore season. Tests as a strong athlete, posting an electronically-timed 4.65 second 40 yard dash at Under Armour’s Ohio Camp. Flashes outstanding functional movement skills at his size, with the ability to sink his hips and change direction with ease. Projects as a high level route runner as he continues to progress. Not overly long for his height, but flashes good ball skills and catch radius. Has strong pedigree as the son of the late NFL wide receiver Chris Henry. Projects as one of the top receivers early on in the 2026 cycle.”
