Amber Heard made a rare post on Instagram to mark her 38th birthday yesterday – years after her and Johnny Depp’s maid discovered something not quite as pleasant in their bed.
The Aquaman star has shunned the spotlight, and social media, when the civil lawsuit against her ex Johnny Depp ended in 2022. The celebrity was found to have defamed the Pirates of the Caribbean star and ordered to pay Depp $15m which was later reduced to $10m. Whereas Depp was found guilty on one of the counts, relating to his lawyer, and ordered to pay $2m in damages. One of the bizarre events to come out of the highly-publicized trial was Depp’s maid finding something in their bed when he was out of town – and it happened eight years ago on Amber Heard‘s birthday.
Amber Heard’s rare post to mark her birthday
The DC actress posted on Instagram on Tuesday, a rare sight since she moved thousands of miles away with her daughter.
She is seen sitting down, smiling, drinking bubbly as she captioned the post: “Champagne kind of birthday”.
It appears the movie star is either in a wine cellar, on a wine-tasting trip or somewhere special because she’s surrounded by bottles.
However, it was eight years ago, around Amber’s birthday when something gross came out of the Depp Vs Heard trial.
Heard in the case, Depp claimed on April 22, she was having a birthday party for herself in their downtown LA penthouse Amber Heard and the film star shared. Depp showed up late and decided to ditch the celebration, which upset her.
The following day, the actor claims the housekeeper called and told him someone had pooped on his side of the bed and placed the duvet back over to cover it up. The 60-year-old alleged he believed it was his now ex-wife, hoping he wouldn’t find it when he crawled in to get some Zzzz’s. He also thought it may have been one of her friends who was at Amber Heard’s birthday party.
But Amber denied this, saying it would have been one of their dogs – Yorkshire terriers. But the Edward Scissorhands star laughed at the suggestion, claiming it was too big for the pups.
He later said the incident was the final straw that broke up the celebrity couple‘s marriage.
The celebrity trial went to Netflix
The trial, which was watched by millions across the world. It was watched again by those signed up to the streaming giant.
Netflix‘s Depp V Heard replayed what happened in court, but it wasn’t up to scratch compared to the other hard-hitting documentaries and true-crime series they release. There were no exclusive interviews, or new footage, just the bare bones of the court clips itself.
Instead, it asked viewers to wonder why the world became obsessed with it. By showing court footage alongside TikTok and YouTube comments, to see how it affected those watching.
“I was trying very, very hard to not have people watching and thinking who should have won,” director Emma Cooper said after. “The verdict is the verdict.”
