What Wolves fans chanted during 1-0 Bournemouth defeat, after yet more VAR controversy - journalist

Wolves have been beaten by Bournemouth in the Premier League tonight – and the Molineux faithful fumed in the second-half after yet another VAR decision went against Wanderers.

Gary O’Neil‘s side put in a pretty awful display against the Cherries, which was very disappointing considering some key players returned to the side.

Wolves were outplayed and outfought throughout the contest, and didn’t ever really look comfortable in the game.

Antoine Semenyo put Bournemouth ahead midway through the first-half, with the forward latching onto a poor clearance from Max Kilman.

Androni Iraola’s side may well have been out of sight had it not been for Jose Sa in the Wolves goal. The Portuguese stopper really did spare Wolves’ blushes.

as fans have come to expect now, there was a very controversial moment in the second-half, when Hwang Hee-chan saw a header chalked off by referee Stuart Attwell, after VAR told him to go to the monitor…

Hwang thought he had scored his first goal of 2024, after heading in a brilliant cross from the right side by Nelson Semedo.

There initially appeared to be nothing doing, but Wanderers supporters then saw that the goal was being checked.

During the build up, Matheus Cunha caught Justin Kluivert with a flailing arm. Nothing was made of this at the time, and there were no appeals from Bournemouth players during the phase of play or after Hwang’s header went in.

Attwell went to the monitor to look at the incident and, sure enough, the foul was given and the goal was chalked off. Cunha was also booked for his troubles.

Journalist Steve Madeley reported from the ground tonight that Wolves fans then chanted ‘It’s not football anymore’. There were also other chants aimed at the Premier League.

Another embarrassing decision, but Wolves poor

It is beyond belief at this point how many decisions have stung Wolves this season. This latest one was extremely soft and was not a clear and obvious error, with Kluivert barely impeded at all. This will happen in another game tomorrow night or at the weekend and it will simply be glossed over.

But it just seems to be the way with Wolves, and O’Neil will surely have a lot to say about the incident after the game.

But it has to be said – Wolves were pretty awful for most of tonight’s game. They only really started to push and play after the red card for Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez.

It was one of the worst displays under O’Neil so far. So many players just did not turn up for the home side, and a huge response is needed in the next game.
