The Polish authorities are ready to help Ukraine return men of military age to help their country in the war against Russia, if necessary, stated Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.
He said that Poland had previously offered to help Ukraine to return its conscripts to their homeland.
“I think that many Poles are outraged when they see young Ukrainian men in hotels and cafes and hear how much effort we have to make to help Ukraine,” he said.
At the same time, Kosiniak-Kamysz did not disclose details of how Poland will help.
“Any support is possible,” he said when asked how Poland would react if Kyiv asked for help in returning home those who may lose the right to stay in Poland after their passports expire.
As of January 2024, about 4.3 million Ukrainians live in the European Union. Of these, about 860,000 are adult men.
Mobilization in Ukraine
Recently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine introduced restrictions for consulates to provide any services to men liable for military service abroad.
Today, the Cabinet of Ministers published a decree on its website stating that Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60 will no longer be able to obtain passports while staying abroad.
