Illegal Immigrant Charged In Michigan After Home Invasion, Sexual Assault Of 2 Young Girls

A 26-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico is charged with breaking into a mobile home in Michigan and sexually assaulting two young girls.

Miguel Hernandez-Ruiz is being held with no bond and was in the country on a temporary work visa that expired in December 2021.

Deputies were called to Sweet Lake Mobile Home Park in Sturgis, Michigan, on March 20 in response to a call for a break-in.

Two girls under the age of 13 were allegedly sexually molested and discovered by police.

According to FOX 17, the sisters say the man threatened to "kill them" if they tried to scream or escape. The girls claim he used his hands to assault them while exposing himself sexually.

Investigators were able to identify a car and suspect through video surveillance footage and interviews. They tracked the suspect down in Indiana.

"I don't believe that this person will follow any of the rules of bond if he doesn't get a bond," the prosecutor told FOX 17. He went on to explain that Hernandez-Ruiz's permit only permited him to be in the U.S. from late August throught he end of the summer to work agricultural jobs. According to the prosecutor, the 25-year-old had not been following those rules for several years by staying in the county.

“Thanks to the meticulous planning, execution, and collaboration between multiple law enforcement partners, a dangerous predator is in custody,” said Jason P. Undersheriff Bingaman.
