Ethan Wheatley sends message after Man Utd debut, Kobbie Mainoo responds

Ethan Wheatley wasted little time heading to social media after making his debut for Manchester United.

18-year-old Ethan Wheatley is a first team Manchester United player. Last night he made his debut for the Red Devils, an achievement nobody can take away from him.

Wheatley stepped up the touchline with a big grin on his face and pat on the back from manager Erik ten Hag. Getting to make his debut at Old Trafford made it even sweeter.

To top it off, Wheatley became the 250th academy graduate to make his United debut, a milestone number for the club, and sixth player to do so under Ten Hag.

Ethan Wheatley wants more

This has been a special week for Ethan Wheatley who was in action just 24 hours earlier for Manchester United’s under-18s in the Premier League Cup final.

He bagged a brace in the 45 minutes he was allowed to play, leading United to a 2-1 win.

Making his first team debut, Wheatley played the nine minutes of stoppage time, and he does not it all to end there.

He wrote proudly on social media: “Dream come true to make my first appearance for my boyhood club at Old Trafford, hopefully many more to come in the future.”

Manchester United teammates respond

Ethan Wheatley’s Manchester United teammates were thrilled for him to come on and make his first team debut.

Rasmus Hojlund, Scott McTominay and Kobbie Mainoo all reached out to congratulate the young striker on his achievement.

Bruno Fernandes also praised Wheatley after the game, speaking to MUTV about the youth talent Unied have in reserve.

The captain said: “He should be really proud of himself, I hope he had his friends and family here, it is a moment he will not forget, he will always remember and for the fture he will keep getting chances if he keeps doing the same things.

“If he got a chance we can talk about injuries and everything but it is because the manager trusts him, not just because of the injuries we have.

“Many of them have been on the bench and not had their chance, if he plays today it is because the manager has some trust in him, the other ones on the bench we all trust them, we all think that they have qualities to come on in the first 11 and to give us a help.”
