Report: 'Fantastic' £40m Tottenham player expected to be fit for north London derby

After so long without a game, Ange Postecoglou will have his Tottenham Hotspur side well prepared for this Sunday’s visit from Arsenal.

Tottenham have won only one of the last five north London derbies, with Ange Postecoglou earning a 2-2 draw in his first experience of the fixture at the Emirates.

There’s a ton riding on the game for both sides, given both Spurs and Arsenal’s league aspirations would probably be concluded if they don’t win.

Tottenham are chasing Aston Villa for fourth, and Arsenal are doing everything they can to evade Manchester City.

That being said, Tottenham will be without Destiny Udogie for the game, a bitter blow for the final six fixtures.

Udogie has been representative of everything good at Tottenham under Postecoglou this season.

The full-back has understood his new manager’s tactical brief superbly, and now there’s a tough decision to be made regarding his replacement.

Ben Davies and Emerson Royal will both be hoping for a chance.

Davies is the obvious choice as a left-footer, but Royal possesses the attacking instincts in his game most similar to Udogie.

Pedro Porro expected to be fit for Tottenham against Arsenal on Sunday

Fortunately, according to The Athletic, Pedro Porro is expected to be fit to face Arsenal on Sunday.

Porro has been struggling with a hamstring injury of late, but the £40m-defender is expected to be fit, meaning Postecoglou will only be without one of his first-choice back four.

Of course, as is the case with Udogie, Porro has understood his manager’s tactical changes exceptionally well, meaning he is vital to the team right now.

Porro has been ‘fantastic’ as an inverted full-back high up the pitch, a role that perfectly suits his attacking threat.

However, when either Porro or Udogie are missing, it highlights an obvious area of the team Tottenham can improve this summer.

The duo simply don’t have replacements in the squad, and it has been problematic this season given the demands of the role.

Spurs will also be playing European football next campaign, so that’s clearly a high-priority issue for the summer.

All that being said, Jurgen Klopp has just made a comment about Tottenham immediately after Liverpool’s loss last night.
