'Brilliant': Micah Richards admits he's been blown away by £53m Manchester United player recently

Micah Richards has now been singing the praises of one Manchester United player following last night’s comeback win against Sheffield United.

Erik ten Hag’s side knew the game was a must win, and although Chris Wilder’s team did manage to score two goals against the run of play, three points were definitely deserved.

Harry Maguire was a reassuring presence at the back again, and his deft header came at an incredibly important point of the match.

Perhaps the overall display hasn’t done much to change Ten Hag’s future beyond the season, but it will still build confidence ahead of the FA Cup final to come.

Of course, with Newcastle United losing away to Crystal Palace last night, Ten Hag’s side are now three points ahead in the race for sixth with five games to go.

That being said, Man United captain Bruno Fernandes continued his outstanding form at Old Trafford last night, delivering a match-winning performance.

And when discussing his display on the BBC’s Match of the Day last night, Micah Richards was almost running out of superlatives.

Micah Richards incredibly impressed with Bruno Fernandes’ form for Manchester United

The pundit credited how composed Fernandes has remained of late, despite all of the noise around the club and what may lay ahead in the future.

Richards explained: “All the chaos that surrounds Man United, I just think for a player to keep his composure and perform at the level needed, I just think it’s fantastic.

“He did exactly that today. His movement, when you have a number 10 playing in there, not many people want to run in behind.

“You just see his confidence growing throughout the game. Pressure penalty at 2-1, can he finish? Of course.

“His all round game was brilliant, whether he was coming really deep and threading long passes.

“Everything he is doing for Man United has been brilliant of late. Seven goals in his last six league games and he has scored 10 league goals this season. He really is a proper player.”

Of course, whatever lies ahead at Manchester United next season, be it a new manager and/or a squad overhaul, Fernandes will remain central.

The £53m-midfielder has been immensely consistent since he was signed back in 2020, and there’s no doubt that he’s equipped to win major honours with the club.

All that being said, Man United are said to be looking to sell nine players this summer in a major clear out.
