Aston Villa fans insist a new ‘golden era’ is upon Villa Park after ‘surreal’ news emerges

Aston Villa fans have reacted around the globe to the ‘surreal’ news that has emerged from Villa Park, with the belief that a ‘golden era’ is upon them.

2024 is a great time to be a Villa fan. Long gone are the days of Championship football as the Birmingham outfit marches up the Premier League table.

In April alone, Unai Emery has guided his side to a Europa Conference League semi-final as well as a memorable 2-0 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates.

It has been an astonishing turn of events in the second city, with Villa fighting a relegation battle only 18 months ago.

Now, the club are on the cusp of the Champions League and should win a major trophy by the end of the campaign.

One major factor in this rise has been Emery. Despite clubs such as Bayern Munich being linked to the manager, the Spaniard has now committed his future at Villa Park.

The work that Emery has done over recent months cannot be underestimated. In under two years, he has turned multiple first-teamers careers around.

One such player is Ollie Watkins. The striker has now been tipped to win the Premier League Player of the Season Award after a sensational campaign.

None of this could have been done without Emery. After Villa triggered his extension until 2027, fans have taken to social media to express their delight in the news.

The praise for Unai Emery could not be higher around the Villa fanbase. As the success on the pitch continues, supporters are now calling for him to win the Manager of the Year Award.

Every statistic indicates that Emery is the best manager at Villa Park for decades. The Spaniard has already broken multiple records throughout Villa’s history despite his short stay so far.

In December, Villa were even tipped to be a Premier League title contender after their 1-0 win over Man City. This also saw them hit 15 consecutive top-flight victories at Villa Park, a new record.

Emery also boasts the highest win rate of any Villa manager in all competitions, standing at 57%. This puts him above legends such as Tony Barton and Ron Saunders, who don’t break the 50% mark.

Justin from UTV Podcast described the club’s current situation as a ‘golden age’, with Villa already on their way to breaking their highest points total in the Premier League.

If Emery can secure Champions League football and a major trophy in less than two years, what could he achieve by 2027?
