Report: West Ham make official £12.8m bid for Brazilian left winger after Steidten scouting mission

West Ham United have apparently made an opening £12.8 million bid for a supremely talented left winger

The upcoming summer transfer window will be a vital one for West Ham, with numerous new additions required, especially an exciting left winger.

Who is in charge of the Hammers this summer is irrelevant. David Moyes has done a good job at the London Stadium, but the terrible way that he has built his current squad is one of his greatest failures.

The West Ham first-team squad lacks any kind of balance, is very low on numbers and is a really ageing one – the oldest in the Premier League in fact.

That’s unforgivable considering the fact that he’s spent nigh on £400 million in four-and-a-half years.

Whoever the next manager is will have a big task on his hands to address the current squad deficiencies.

And after Said Benrahma was allowed to leave in January without a replacement being brought in, the addition of a left winger may well be right at the top of the new manager’s summer wish-list…

West Ham make official £12.8 million winger bid

Getting the signing of a pacy left winger done and dusted early on in the summer transfer window will be a necessity for the Hammers.

And it seems as though that’s exactly what Tim Steidten is trying to do.

The German has recently been out in Brazil on an intense scouting mission. And there was clearly one stand-out candidate to come to the London Stadium this summer in the German’s eyes…

According to a report from Jorge Nicola, West Ham have made a £12.8 million bid for 19-year-old Corinthians winger Wesley – one that has been rejected by the Brazilian side.

Nicola states that he is baffled that Corinthians haven’t accepted the offer from the Hammers.

The talented South American teen has huge potential, incredible pace and really stunning technical ability.

He has bagged four goals and three assists in 57 senior games in all competitions for Corinthians thus far (Transfermarkt).

Whether West Ham return with a second bid for the winger remains to be seen. However, judging by Jorge Nicola’s take on the situation, Corinthians might just be asking for too much money for him.

Wesley is relatively unproven at the very highest level after all.
