'Honestly': John Terry shares what he's noticed about Chelsea's current players while at the training ground

Chelsea legend John Terry has now shared some of the things he has noticed about the first team squad during his time working at the club.

He told ‘Up Front with Simon Jordan’ that he has made some very clear observations about the players who are already at the club, and what they need in order to really improve.

Terry is currently working with the academy at Chelsea, where has been able to gain an insight into the first team situation under Mauricio Pochettino.

While on paper things are drastically far from the expectations the club and supporters have of themselves, it is clear to see that there are a number of top quality players in their ranks.

John Terry noticing lack of experience at Chelsea

Terry has stated that while he thinks the ability is definitely there for some of those stars, it is a case of getting more experience at the highest level to help them really show their potential.

He said: “I think everyone’s got to be really patient on this. And I say this because I’m around it, I’m not part of the first team but I’m in the academy. Occasionally our boys go over, and you get to see some of these boys.

“There’s some quality players in that dressing room, but they’re babies. Honestly, they’re babies, they’re kids. They just need a little bit of time. You see that performance, where does that come from against Everton?

“You’ve got one of the youngest players in the group showing personality. Is that because he’s played at a top club under a top manager and is showing what it takes?”

Chelsea need to sign experienced players

It has been the mantra ever since Todd Boehly took over the club to bring in players who are more likely to make an impact in the future rather than the present.

This has included a large section of stars who are not even able to join up with the first team squad yet, such as Kendry Paez who is busy scoring worldies in Ecuador.

However, the upcoming transfer window should see them look to address this issue, prioritising players who already have the ability and experience to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.
