Ansu Fati says 22-year-old Man City player is even better than Enzo Fernandez

Ansu Fati has suggested that one particular Manchester City player is better than Enzo Fernandez.

The winger is currently spending a season-long loan spell with Brighton & Hove Albion, who City will be playing in the Premier League tonight.

Having featured in 17 league games in this campaign prior to tonight’s match against Pep Guardiola’s side, Fati has now shared his thoughts on two fairly young players who have made moves to England over the past couple of years.

In a recent video shared on the Pro Direct Soccer TikTok channel where he had to blind rank 10 random past and present footballers, Fati chose to put Josko Gvardiol ahead of Fernandez.

Back in the 2023 January transfer window, Chelsea spent a then club-record fee of £106.8m to sign Fernandez from Benfica.

Since then, the midfielder has made 62 appearances for the west London club across all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing five assists along the way.

Then with Gvardiol, City spent £77m to sign the 22-year-old from RB Leipzig during the previous summer transfer window.

During his debut season with the Citizens, the defender has featured in 35 games across all competitions, chipping in with two goals and two assists.

In 22 league appearances this season, the Croatian has earned himself an overall performance rating of 6.87/10 from WhoScored.

In comparison, with 28 league games under his belt, Fernandez has earned himself a rating of 6.75/10.

This shows that the defender has been better in his first season in the Premier League than the midfielder who already had a few months of experience in him before the start of the season.

Taking all of that on board, it’s easy to see why Fati ranked Gvardiol above the Chelsea midfielder.
