Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian teenager early on Thursday, during the storming of the West Bank city of Ramallah.
Khaled Raed Arouq, 16, originally from the city of Jenin, was in Ramallah during the time of Israeli assault on the city, which is home to President Mahmoud Abbas's Palestinian Authority.
According to local Palestinian media, Arouq was shot in the chest and was later pronounced dead after arriving at the Palestine Medical Complex.
Eyewitnesses told local media that Israeli military vehicles were stationed near the Al-Tahta and Al-Tira neighbourhoods, where confrontations broke out.
Israeli forces reportedly used live fire and stun grenades on young people in the area.
The Red Crescent Society said their crews transported a critically wounded person to hospital after the confrontations.
Following the announcement of his death, young Palestinians gathered outside the hospital to chant in anger at his killing.
According to reports, Arouq’s body will be taken to his home city of Jenin for burial.
At least 14 Palestinians were killed this week in an Israeli raid on Nur Shams camp in the northern West Bank, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.
The Israeli army said troops had killed 10 militants during the operation, which it said started on Thursday.
The West Bank has seen an uptick in violence at the hands of Israeli forces and settlers since the start of the war on Gaza.
At least 484 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers and settlers in the territory since 7 October, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
The Palestinian prisoner group said at least 8,425 Palestinians have been arrested by Israeli forces in the West Bank during this period.
The figure includes over 500 children and 66 journalists, according to the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society, and the Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association.
