Collingham women’s cricket team win both of their games in the super 8s against Carrington and Plumtree in Nottinghamshire

Women’s cricket was in full swing at Collingham where their women’s 1sts super 8s team were in action and won both of their games since their promotion to division two.

The 1sts won their first game against visiting Cavaliers and Carrington by four runs.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat, Ellie Baldwin set the tone as she took a wicket for the hosts in the fourth over.

Emma Fairburn then went on to take two further wickets via LBW in the fifth over and Collingham’s confidence grew.

Cavs finished the innings at 65/3.

Collingham went into bat chasing a good score, Louise Bilbie and Jo Chapman got them a great start with 21 runs from the first 4 overs.

Cavs fought back and Alvena Sajid took two Collingham wickets in the fifth over over before taking another in the 9th over.

When Collingham’s fourth pair went into bat there was work to do with the score being at 46.

Captain Gemma Tarr was at the crease in the final over with three runs needed to win.

Tarr managed to hit a boundary before she defended the wicket for the rest of the over to secure the win.

Collingham then played Plumtree, a young team with some county players.

Plumtree put the hosts into bat after winning the toss and Collingham achieved a final score of 66 for the loss of four wickets.

Tarr was again instrumental with the bat as she hit four boundaries.

Louise Bilbie was strong for Collingham behind the wicket as they fielded against Plumtree.
