Kate Middleton announced she had been diagnosed with cancer last month via a video statement to the public. In the update, the Princess of Wales, says she had reassured her children that ‘everything will be okay.’

This year hasn’t started off the best for the royal family, in regard to their health. Both Kate Middleton and King Charles were admitted to the hospital to undertake planned surgery, and later on, both revealed they’d been diagnosed with cancer. It’s rare for the royals to be so open with their health, which may now be worrying Kate.

Kate Middleton fears her children’s lives will be ‘overshadowed’ with cancer news

Recently, Prince William and Kate celebrated their youngest son, Prince Louis‘ sixth birthday. The couple took to Instagram to share a new photo of the young Prince, taken by his mom. A tradition she keeps every year for her children’s birthdays, despite doubts this year.

April 29 will mark the couple’s 13th anniversary, and according to one source, the Prince and Princess of Wales are doing everything they can to celebrate the milestone traditionally, despite Kate’s cancer diagnosis.

An insider tells OK! “family life is their top priority,” and the couple are said to be worried about George, Charlotte and Louis’ “lives being upheaved by the difficult times”. As well as their mother, their grandfather King Charles is also battling cancer, and they fear the kids will be “overshadowed”.

“William and Kate are trying to keep things as normal as possible for their children’s sake,” the royal insider told the publication. “They don’t want Kate’s diagnosis to overshadow the children’s lives and their happiness and are very much their priority.”

They revealed Louis’ birthday would have been celebrated in a ‘normal way’ with his friends, and Kate and William [would have made] a special effort to celebrate their anniversary together the weekend afterward in Norfolk.”

King Charles gives daughter-in-law ‘new title’ after they ‘grew closer’ during health troubles

As the monarch and Kate were in hospital at the same time, while undergoing producers, it’s reported the two were there to ‘support each other,’ through the difficult times.

Charles has always had a strong relationship with his daughter-in-law Kate, and it’s thought their cancer diagnosis’ will only bring them closer together.

This week, Charles gave Kate a historic new title, appointing the Princess of Wales a Royal Companion of the Order of the Companions of Honour. The Princess is the first member of the family to ever be appointed to the Companions of Honour.

The ‘membership’ in the order is said to be a symbolic gift from the monarch in recognition of service to the arts, sciences, medicine, and public service.
