Parents-of-22 Sue and Noel Radford have revealed daughter Millie’s engagement was almost a disaster.
Millie, 22, who is the seventh child and third daughter of the 22 Kids and Counting stars, announced the happy news she is set to tie the knot with partner Harley last week. The loved-up pair got engaged when Harley popped the question during a family holiday to Disneyland Florida.
But further details of how Harley popped the question have since emerged – and it appears the life-changing moment didn’t go as smoothly as it was supposed to. In a clip shared to The Radford Family TikTok, the couple are seen posing for what Millie thinks is a photo with Harley in front of the famous Disney castle. Millie’s face then turns to shock as Harley pulls a ring box out of his pocket and gets down on one knee.
Though it looked like Millie said yes, in his attempt to get the ring on her finger Harley dropped it on the floor. Millie is heard saying: “It got stuck on my nail!” A worried Harley is then seen scrambling around to find it as he says: “Oh no! Where’s it gone? Where’s it gone?”
After a brief moment of panic, he found the ring and put it safely on Millie’s finger, while telling her: “I’m shaking.” The newly-engaged couple then show off the ring to the camera, but Millie said it felt a bit tight. Joking her fingers must have got fatter, she said: “I must have put on a bit of timber since we’ve been out here as I was a ring size M before we got here!”
Sharing their good news on social media afterwards, Harley wrote: "She said yes. I love you my wife-to-be." Millie and her fiancé have a son named Chester who was born in February 2022, as well as two daughters Ophelia Jo, and Elodie Jade - who were born in September 2020 and September 2023 respectively, from a previous relationship.
Fans were quick to send well wishes underneath the video, with one saying: “Aw congratulations to you all. The heat will make your fingers swell so maybe wait a bit as maybe ok when back home as the cold will help x.” Another wrote: “The best proposal, outside the castle.”
The Radfords shot to fame as reality stars after appearing on Channel 5’s 22 Kids and Counting back in 2021. Sue, 48, and Noel, 53, were childhood sweethearts who had their first baby when Sue was just 14 years old. Since then they have added another 21 kids to their brood and are now grandparents.
Earlier this year, Sue revealed the family had moved into a new home after fans kept turning up at the 10-bedroom house in Morecambe, which was a former care home and are now thought to live in a converted farmhouse. She explained: “People turning up at the house has definitely become a regular occurrence. They’ll start taking pictures. Then the gate will open and they’ll start walking up the footpath. I’m more than happy to meet people out and about. But I think when it’s your house, it’s just not okay. There’s definitely a line we draw with privacy. I think we have to. When they open the gate and knock on the door, that’s a line you don’t cross.”
