Oreo product customers thought was a joke has arrived, and reviews are suprisingly good

Reviews for Oreo’s collaboration with Sour Patch Kids are starting to roll in, with most customers pleasantly surprised by the unique flavor combination despite initially thinking it was an April Fool’s joke.

The latest snacking team-up should not come as too much of a surprise as both Oreo and Sour Patch Kids are known to work with other brands. In the past, Oreo has collabed with the likes of Betty Crocker and Lady GaGa, while Sour Patch Kids was rumored to be working with Ritz earlier this year.

The new Sour Patch Kids X Oreo collab is here

Sometimes, brands come up with a product that is so unique, that people think they are being played. That’s just the case with Sour Patch Kids X Oreo, which many thought was a joke.

Though some customers have reported spotting the sweet treat already, it’s believed that the official rollout of the Oreos is May 6. The news was officially announced on Wednesday as the brands said: “Sour. Sweet. OREO. Fans can now experience all three!”

Visually, the cookies look like a typical golden Oreo, which fans should recognize as vanilla flavor. Both the cookie and the creme filling are said to be packed full of “colorful inclusions” of sour power.

But the collaboration does not stop there as Oreo is also launching merchandise alongside the new cookies. As reported by the Mail Online, the merch on May 2 is set to include a crewneck sweatshirt, a bucket hat, joggers, hair clips, and a belt bag.

“The OREO brand is always looking for playful ways to excite our fans,’ Caroline Suppiger, Oreo’s senior associate brand manager, said. “What better and more unexpected way to do that than letting SOUR PATCH KIDS playfully take over our cookie?!”

Grace Howard, Sour Patch Kids’ innovation brand manager, added: “The opportunity to partner with our friends at the Oreo brand to create a mischievous twist on a classic cookie was one we just couldn’t pass up. We are both so excited to see the fan reaction to this sour-then-sweet limited-edition cookie.”

The Sour Patch Kids and Oreo collaboration is only available for a limited time.

Reviews are starting to roll in

Though the official rollout is still a week away, some avid snack fans have already spotted them in various stores.

In his review of the cookies for his 247k followers on Instagram, @Snackolator said: “These are so much better than I thought they’d be. Are they going to change the world? No.”

Taking to TikTok, King Schratz devoured one with passion before admitting: “Disclaimer, I’m a person who really likes sour stuff, so you gotta hear me out. They nailed the flavor of Sour Patch Kids because when it starts off it just tastes sweet. After a couple of seconds on the backend, the sour starts to gradually kick in and that is going to turn off a lot of people.

“Personally, I enjoy that. But I’m going to be honest, I would not eat these over and over again. These are not a goat Oreo, but I do not think they’re trash.”

In contrast, it seems like the cookie is not something everyone will enjoy. In her review, Natalie Ludwig argued that the Sour Patch Kids Oreos taste like the “bubblegum fluoride you get at the dentist.”
