'He’s the best’: Phil Foden says nobody in the Premier League even comes close to £54m Man City player

Phil Foden has said that one of his Manchester City teammates is the best player in the Premier League.

The Englishman delivered a star performance in last night’s 4-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League, scoring two goals in the process.

After the game, the 23-year-old chose to highlight one of his teammates for some heavy praise.

Speaking to the media (via Man City) after last night’s south coast victory, Foden had this to say about Kevin De Bruyne and what it’s like to play alongside him.

He said: “Playing with the best players in the world like Kev definitely helps my game.

“When he’s at it, he’s the best player in the Premier League.

“To be playing with him in midfield it helps my game. He sees passes other players don’t. Sometimes you just have to run into the space and he’s going to find you.

“It’s nice I’m playing inside with him now and hopefully I can keep playing with him because it’s good for the team. We just want to win game by game to get to the title.”

Kevin De Bruyne has been a star signing for City

De Bruyne opened the scoring against Robert De Zerbi’s side last night with a stunning diving header in the 17th minute, making it his fourth in 16 league games this season.

With 376 appearances for the club, who paid £54m to sign the midfielder back in 2015, under his belt, the 32-year-old has scored 102 goals and delivered 166 assists.

In addition to Foden’s comments about De Bruyne, Jamie Carragher has previously said that the Belgian is one of the best foreign players the Premier League has seen, eclipsing the likes of Gianfranco Zola, Eric Cantona and Dennis Bergkamp.

Frank Lampard has also said that the City star is one of the best midfielders in Premier League history, further highlighting how impressive he has been during his time with the Blues.

Taking all of that into account, it’s clear that Foden isn’t exaggerating when he says that De Bruyne is the best player in the top-flight right now.
