'All day': Gabriel Agbonlahor shares who he thinks is better - Bruno Guimaraes or Enzo Fernandez

Newcastle United have one of the best centre-midfielders in the Premier League in Bruno Guimaraes.

But he is not one of the most expensive, with the 26-year-old costing the Magpies around £40million in January 2022. It was one of Newcastle United‘s most expensive signings ever, but not in the context of the entire Premier League.

Chelsea have spent much more than that on players in the same position, splashing out more than £100million each on Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, with the latter actually linked with a move to Tyneside before joining the Blues. Considering he cost £115million, we had no chance!

Fernandez cost a bit less, arriving at Stamford Bridge for £107million. He arrived as a World Cup winner, but has not done much to prove why he was worthy of all the hype.

The Argentina international has been part of a stuttering and expensively assembled Chelsea team, and has failed to prove why he cost so much money – which is the same for a lot of his teammates.

Bruno Guimaraes vs Enzo Fernandez

But who would you rather have in your team – Bruno Guimaraes or Enzo Fernandez? Former Aston Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor has provided his answer.

He has been speaking to Alan Brazil on TalkSPORT about the Newcastle United midfielder, and has compared him to Enzo Fernandez whilst discussing the Brazilian’s value.

Brazil: “I will tell you what, Guimaraes, looks like Newcastle might be losing him. Don’t get me wrong, Newcastle are a big club, but I believe he could be talking to PSG.

Agbonlahor: “I did see his release clause at £100million. I don’t think him going for that much.”

Brazil: “No, no, no. I like him a lot, but not £100million. No chance.”

Agbonlahor: “Or, who would you choose between Guimaraes and Enzo Fernandez? I am taking Guimaraes all day.”

Bruno Guimaraes has had a much bigger impact in the Premier League

Brazil’s claims comes after a story from TalkSPORT has reported that Bruno’s representatives have held talks with Paris Saint-Germain about a move back to France.

Neither Brazil nor Agbonlahor think the 26-year-old is worth £100million, which is how much teams must pay to sign him this summer.

But while Agbonlahor has admitted he is not sure about Bruno costing £100million, he has said that he is better than Fernandez, who cost around that just over a year ago. So maybe Bruno is worth that amount after all, or was Fernandez just overpriced…

Either way, I think the majority of people would rather have the Brazilian over the Argentinian. He has had a much bigger impact in the Premier League, and is the type of player who would probably start for every top flight club. Even the top two are keen, with Manchester City and Arsenal looking to sign Bruno this summer.

Hopefully they do not, with Newcastle hoping to keep their talisman for at least one more year.
