TV family drama erupts as star's daughter doesn't show up for his prison appeal

Lindsie Chrisley didn’t go to her parents’ hearing as her father, Todd Chrisley, “doesn’t want a relationship with her,” according to sister Savannah, who told her not to attend.

Todd and Julie Chrisley went to prison in January 2023 for bank fraud and tax evasion. Their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, has revealed the reason his other daughter, Lindsie, didn’t attend their recent appeal.

Lindsie Chrisley’s ban from parents’ hearing

Savannah Chrisley gave some insight on why sister Lindsie Chrisley was not in attendance at their parents’ recent hearing.

“I most certainly told her privately to not attend,” she revealed on Instagram on April 24.

“I told her that she was not wanted, that my dad did not want her there, and that he didn’t care to have a relationship with her,” Savannah wrote. “So, I said all of these things. I am more than happy I said them.

She added, “And it’s my parents’ appeal. They have the right to say who they want there and who they don’t.”

The message was relayed to Lindsie via their grandmother, Nanny Faye Chrisley.

Savannah said she did not plan on “publicly” addressing why Lindsie didn’t attend her parents’ hearing, but felt she had to be honest after the situation was revealed on her sister’s podcast.

Lindsie revealed on her Southern Tea podcast: “I was not in attendance. I know people were saying from the footage they saw from the courthouse they did not see me there and that’s because I was not there.”

She added: “I do feel that it was in the best interest for me and everyone else. My sister privately let the message get to us that she did not want us present at the hearing.”

“It was shared with me that if we were there, there would be issues and we’d be asked to leave,” Lindsie continued, saying it was “mind-blowing” to see “control and manipulation” Savannah had with her family.

Inside Todd and Julie Chrisley’s appeal

Todd Chrisley and Julie were originally sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison. Though they began appealing their case the following month, they reported to prison in January 2023.

Their sentences were reduced that September by roughly two years. They both listened to the appeal hearing from prison, and Savannah states they’re “hoping for a different outcome”.

Alex Little, a partner at Burr and Forman LLP, argued misconduct was at play in the pair’s case, claiming “the evidence suggested that the prosecutors here worked in concert with the witness.”

The rebuttal presented by assistant U.S. attorney Annalise Peters argued there is no case at all, noting “the evidence was overwhelming at trial that the Chrisleys took a number of steps to evade the IRS”.
