Erik ten Hag confirms three first team stars back in training next week and Mount ready this weekend

Erik ten Hag will be hoping to continue in the win column this weekend, but first, he’s provided some Manchester United injury news.

This weekend, like Wednesday, is a game that Manchester United should be winning, against a side who seem odds on for relegation.

Therefore, it’s one that Erik ten Hag cannot afford to lose, with his job on the line over the next few weeks with Jason Wilcox set to make a decision.

However, as always, he’ll have a long injury list to contend with although it is looking like it’ll be easing slightly this weekend, and even more next week.

This is according to the latest Ten Hag press conference, so let’s find out what he’s said.

Mason Mount returning to the squad for Manchester United

On Friday afternoon, Ten Hag spoke to the media ahead of this weekend’s Premier League game against Burnley, as quoted by Manchester Evening News.

In this, he provided fitness updates on quite a few different players, including Mason Mount.

Here’s what he said about the return of the £55m man who has yet to prove he’s worth his fee.

“So same squad but apart from Mason Mount. He will return into the squad.”

This is an important return for United, given the lack of options right now across the field.

If he’s fit enough, he might even be in line for a start, with Christian Eriksen failing to impress midweek.

Erik ten Hag confirms three players are due to return to training next week

During his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s game against Burnley at Old Trafford, Ten Hag also provided an update on three players we haven’t seen in months.

He explained: “Yes, I think we will see them [Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez and Anthony Martial] all in the season.

“They all returned onto the pitch. Next week, they have to make the step into team training and they can be available for the last weeks. They progress well.”

This in particular is a huge boost for United, with both Shaw and Martinez being massive players and if they’re fit for the cup final, we might stand a chance.
