From France: West Ham 'seriously switch attention' to 3-time league winning manager

The David Moyes replacement search is really beginning to heat up at West Ham United it seems.

David Moyes will almost certainly leave West Ham in the summer, with a decision to part ways with the Scot apparently already having been made by the club’s owners.

The Hammers have endured a disastrous 2024 so far, and have won just four of our last 21 games in all competitions.

Moyes’s negative approach to games and his dour pre-game rhetoric has undoubtedly held us back as far as I’m concerned.

It’s time for a big change at the London Stadium, with the need for a new manager with fresh ideas and an attacking philosophy an absolute necessity.

Now it seems like it might not be too long before that dream becomes a reality…

David Moyes replacement search intensifies

Getting Moyes’s replacement 100% spot on will be vital to our hopes of making some genuine progress over the next few years.

The worst thing we could do is make a backwards step, or even a sideways one.

And judging by the latest round of reports, that won’t be the case fortunately.

According to a report from French publication Foot Mercato, the Hammers owners are seriously switching their attention to Lille boss Paulo Fonseca.

This comes after claims that Spaniard Julen Lopetegui is the favourite in the race for the West Ham manager’s job.

Fonseca, 51, would be so much more of an exciting appointment than Lopetegui, and I’m praying that we manage to secure the Portuguese’s signature.

He is a three-time league champion from his time in charge of Shakhtar Donetsk, so he would certainly bring a winning mentality with him to the London Stadium.

The Lille manager implements an extremely exciting brand of football, and takes his responsibility of bringing through talented young players from the academy very seriously indeed.

It has been claimed that the Portuguese coach has actually agreed a deal in principle to take over at the London Stadium this summer.

The Hammers apparently have already missed out on our number one target Ruben Amorim.

Amorim would have been my preferred choice, with Fonseca a close second.

And as the David Moyes replacement search continues, it seems like the 51-year-old Lille manager is certainly one of the front-runners.
