'Fort Knox': Trump urges followers to go into 'heavily guarded' courthouse to attend trial

Donald Trump exhorted his followers to come to the Manhattan courthouse where he's on trial — and expect to face resistance from law enforcement.

The former president is facing felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a hush money payment intended to boost his election chances in 2016, and he has repeatedly called his supporters to protest outside the courthouse and has falsely claimed that police would likely try to block them.

"I’m at the heavily guarded Courthouse. Security is that of Fort Knox, all so that MAGA will not be able to attend this trial, presided over by a highly conflicted pawn of the Democrat Party," Trump posted Friday morning on Truth Social. "It is a sight to behold! Getting ready to do my Courthouse presser. Two minutes!"

There have rarely been more than a handful of protesters outside the courthouse, where TV photographers and reporters far outnumber anyone else, and there has been little police presence around those demonstrations and no efforts to stop them.

Trump has painted a highly misleading account of his trial, which has proceeded on schedule and with little courtroom drama outside of witness testimony, although the judge has admonished the former president and his attorneys several times during the case but so far has imposed no sanctions.
