Bruno Guimaraes has some incredible skills, but he does not believe he is Newcastle United’s trickiest player.
Ever since his arrival at St James’ Park in January 2022, we have seen plenty of flicks and tricks from Bruno Guimaraes. It was basically how he announced himself as a Toon player, scoring a backheel volley on his first start for the club.
While he is a combative midfielder with a brilliant passing range, Bruno always finds time for some skill. Whether it is an elastico or pass with the outside of his boot, the 26-year-old has all the hallmarks of a Brazilian footballer.
However, he does not actually believe that he is the most skilful player at Newcastle United right now.

Instead, he has given that honour to another one of the Magpies’ superstars.
Bruno has spoken to the Fubo YouTube channel, and took part in some quickfire questions, one of which was to name the Magpies’ most skilful player in training.
The Brazil international did not hesitate, immediately declaring Alexander Isak as the trickiest player on Tyneside.
Since Allan Saint-Maximin left the club last summer, the title of most skilful player at Newcastle has been up for grabs. Bruno has given it to Isak, and it is easy to understand why. Just think back to that incredible run against Everton last season!
The 24-year-old can do outrageous things with a ball at his feet, and is not adverse to embarrassing his opponent. It was just the other week that he reduced Micky van de Ven to ridicule on social media, while we have also seen him make a mockery of Toon teammate Loris Karius in training.
Bruno names Newcastle’s fastest player
As well as the most skilful player, Bruno was also asked to name the fastest player at Newcastle United.
This one required a bit more thought, and it almost went to Isak as well. However, Bruno then turned to Anthony Gordon.
“This is a good question,” he said.
“I think it’s between Isak and Gordon, but I think Gordon is top of the list.”
There seems to be quite the consensus that Gordon is the quickest player at Newcastle United right now. Jamaal Lascelles and Tino Livramento also gave that answer when they were asked the same question recently.
The 23-year-old is absolutely rapid, and he actually believes he could get faster. But that would mean doing more weight work in the gym, which is not something he wants to do as it would risk more injuries.
