‘Outstanding’: TalkSPORT pundit ranks 21-year-old Chelsea player as better than Bukayo Saka right now

Pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has stated that Chelsea have a player who is having a better season than Bukayo Saka right now.

He told TalkSPORT that he believes one of their players has actually been the third best performing player in the Premier League this season.

Despite their mid-table placing in the Premier League, there has certainly been a standout performer at Stamford Bridge this season.

Palmer starring for Chelsea

Cole Palmer was the last permanent addition made by the club on deadline day of the previous summer transfer window, however they stumbled across easily their best signing of the Todd Boehly era.

He currently sits as the joint top scorer in the Premier League this season, taking to life as a regular for a first team with ease.

His absence earlier this week against Arsenal was felt hard, with Mauricio Pochettino not having a star to rely upon at the Emirates.

The 21-year-old has put himself in the conversation for the England side this summer too, and one of the better performers in the league along the way.

Agbonlahor rates Palmer over Saka

Agbonlahor has stated that he actually sees him as the third best performer this season, behind only Phil Foden and Martin Odegaard.

He said: “Number 3, Cole Palmer. For me, when he left Man City, I was thinking it might take him a season, but he has been outstanding. 20 Premier League goals. When you watch him, he looks better every game he is playing in.

“You talk about Tim Sherwood’s interview with him where he says can the rest of the team get to your standards, sort of thing. Everyone sort of went against Tim Sherwood, and he was right. Look, No Cole Palmer against Arsenal, no Chelsea. So, Chelsea really rely on Cole Palmer.”

The former Aston Villa striker ranked Saka in 5 on his list, suggesting that he has not been impressed as he has been while watching Palmer.

It remains to be seen whether the 21-year-old is fit enough to return to action in time for the game against Aston Villa, which could be crucial for their hopes of finishing in the European places.
