Micah Richards says player who left Manchester City on a free is the most complete footballer he's ever seen

Micah Richards has claimed that one of his former Manchester City teammates is the most complete footballer he has ever seen.

City have had a number of world-class players play for them since Sheikh Mansour took over the club over a decade ago.

The Etihad Stadium has seen some magnificent talents, and it’s no surprise at all that Manchester City have been the most successful club in the country in that period.

Micah Richards enjoyed his time at City after he burst onto the scene, and he shared the dressing room with some incredible players.

He has now raved about one of them.

Micah Richards shares why Yaya Toure is the most complete footballer

Yaya Toure is one of the best midfielders in the history of the Premier League.

The Ivorian joined Manchester City from Barcelona in 2010 and became a star. He got better and better every season and played a massive part in the club’s success during his time there.

Toure won three Premier League titles, three League Cups, an FA Cup and a Community Shield in his eight years as a Manchester City player.

He was a brilliant midfielder and was almost unstoppable on his day.

Micah Richards spent a lot of time with Toure when they were together at Manchester City, and he is still in awe of how good a player the Ivorian was.

In the latest Q&A episode on the Rest is Football podcast, Alan Shearer, Richards and Gary Lineker were asked to name who they thought was the most complete footballer.

Shearer picked Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, while Lineker chose Steven Gerrard.

Richards, on the other hand, picked Yaya Toure and explained the one reason why the Ivorian deserves that recognition.

“Yaya Toure. He’s played centre-back, he’s played midfield and he’s played number 10. He could do everything,” Richards said.

Jack Grealish’s comments on Yaya Toure explains how good he was

Yaya Toure is often overlooked when we’re talking about the best midfielders in Premier League history.

The likes of Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira are all mentioned much earlier than the Manchester City legend and perhaps rightly so.

However, Toure has to be in that conversation as well.

When he was in full flow, very few people could stop him, and Jack Grealish, who has previously played against him, raved about him a few months ago.

In an interview with Pro: Direct Soccer on their YouTube channel in January this year, the Manchester City attacker said: “Yaya Toure. When he played for Man City against [Aston] Villa in my debut. He was just silly, man. He was unbelievable.”

“Yeah, [Yaya Toure was head and shoulders above] everyone.

“It was that season [2013/2014 season], do you remember? Yeah, free-kicks, yeah, I’m sure he scored 20 goals or something in the Prem [Premier League] from midfield.”
