Exclusive: When Liverpool and Feyenoord are now expected to make Arne Slot announcement

  • Exclusive from Graeme Bailey

Over the past few days, speculation involving Liverpool and Arne Slot has intensified massively, and now we’re on the home straight.

For months, we had reports linking the Reds with the likes of Xabi Alonso and Ruben Amorim, but they never seemed to pick up much pace.

This week, however, speculation emerged involving Liverpool and Feyenoord’s Slot and soon gave way to the manager himself admitting talks were taking place. He also revealed that he wanted the Reds job.

Now, on Friday night, the news that Liverpool fans have been waiting for has finally arrived. Namely, that Slot is set to be named as Klopp’s replacement at Anfield.

TBR Football sources have confirmed that an agreement in principle has been reached with Feyenoord, as well as personal terms with Slot.

Talks have gone smoothly from the outset. An announcement could come as early as Saturday, but this is unlikely as the deal may not be fully signed-off and there are minor details to be ironed out.

An announcement early next week is more likely. Liverpool are working with Feyenoord on how the announcement is made as they want to make the process as smooth as they can.

This is great news, as Slot certainly seems to tick all the boxes for Liverpool.

He’s a young, ambitious manager with experience of making teams better, he has won trophies with Feyenoord, and is known for playing exciting football that will go down well with Reds fans.

Liverpool and FSG have done great work in securing key backroom staff over the past few months, and now Klopp’s successor has been secured.

Plans for pre-season and for the transfer window can soon start to take shape, which will ensure as much continuity as possible as the Klopp era draws to an end.
