'Outstanding': Postecoglou hails 'very talented' 16-year-old Spurs gem who's been in pre-Arsenal training

In recent years, Tottenham Hotspur have found themselves to be a great club for young players to make their mark on the game.

The likes of Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie joined Spurs as exciting talents and have become Premier League stars.

In terms of academy prospects, the likes of Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp have developed into solid players at Tottenham. For instance, Winks has just helped Leicester City to promotion.

And this season, the Tottenham Under-21s team has secured top spot in the Premier League 2 table with a game to spare.

The future certainly looks bright at Spurs, both in terms of the first-team and the youth teams.

Lately, one Tottenham academy gem in particular has really been impressing in training for the seniors.

The player in question is Mikey Moore, who has been a cut above for Spurs’ Under-18s this season.

Speaking ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League meeting with Arsenal, Ange Postecoglou sung the 16-year-old’s praises.

Postecoglou told football.london: “Mikey has been really good.

“Look, he’s a very talented boy and for him, he’s had a fairly disrupted season, he’s had a couple of injuries, but when he’s performed, he’s performed really well.

“The reports I’ve had on him have always been outstanding. It’s been good to have him. Obviously we’ve had a couple of weeks without a game and it’s been good to get him involved in the first team.

“Again, to be fair to him he has adapted really well, he hasn’t looked out of place and it’s great for him. Hopefully it gives encouragement to him and some of the other guys who are coming through.

Who is Tottenham Hotspur academy star Mikey Moore?

Moore joined Tottenham at Under-9s level and has risen through the ranks to become a regular for the Under-18s.

The attacking talent is head and shoulders above many of his peers, with 14 goals and eight assists from just 12 U18 Premier League outings this season.

Moore has also played in two FA Youth Cup matches this term, and bagged two goals and one assist in the competition. He is also shining for England’s Under-17s.

It’ll be exciting to see how he continues to develop at Tottenham. His future looks particularly bright.
