Rangers injury news and return dates vs St Mirren with up to 7 stars sidelined

The very latest Rangers injury news as provided by manager Philippe Clement ahead of the Ibrox side’s trip to St Mirren.

The top six split fixtures commence for Rangers this weekend and it means no easy games for the first-team between now and the end of May.

Gers are still in the Scottish Premiership title race but need to rely on Celtic slipping up at some point over the next month.

Before that, Rangers have to kick off their crucial last five games of the 2023/24 campaign in Paisley without a number of important names.

Boss Clement sat down in front of the press on Friday and delivered injury news on four players, two of which suffering issues during last weekend’s Scottish Cup semi-final victory over Hearts.

Here’s the latest on the injury news front at Rangers and when each player could make their return to action.

Abdallah Sima injury blow

Abdallah Sima picked up an injury at Hampden on Sunday after just 16 minutes of action and he’s not going to be back anytime soon for Rangers.

Clement explained: “Sima will be out. We are in contact with Brighton about that for the next couple of weeks. I hope to see him playing again this season and he hopes also. He is very motivated about that.

“He’s a terrific lad and someone who (has) really strong mental strength and a really positive person. So he takes it and he wants to come back as fast as possible and works hard for that.”

Rabbi Matondo injury doubt

Much like Sima in Mount Florida a week ago, Rabbi Matondo suffered a knock during the game as Clement told the press when the incident happened.

The Ibrox manager said: “Rabbi Matondo had also a bad tackle during that game against Hearts where we get a free-kick around 16 (minutes) there. So he’s doubtful for the weekend.

Ryan Jack injury progress

The 2023/24 season has been one of the most frustrating of Ryan Jack’s career. He’s very rarely enjoyed an extended run in the team and Rangers have missed his calming influence.

But like Yilmaz, Jack will return to the Auchenhowie training pitches next week with a view to helping Rangers in the Premiership title run-in.
