'What can I say?': BBC pundit says £10.5m Leeds player looked so 'poor' last night, he's got no confidence

Leeds United’s automatic promotion hopes were dealt a major blow by Queens Park Rangers last night.

The Whites were completely embarrassed in the capital by an incredible 4-0 scoreline, as they missed the chance to pile the pressure on Ipswich Town ahead of their two games in hand.

It was apparent fairly quickly that Leeds were considerably off the pace on the night, which was all the more puzzling after the 4-3 victory away at Middlesbrough on Monday.

Supporters who made the trip down were understandably fuming at the players post-match, with so many of the team just no where near their best.

Crysencio Summerville was a shadow of himself, Ilia Gruev was poor for both of QPR’s opening two goals, but they certainly were not the only ones. Not a single player covered themselves in glory.

BBC pundit says Joel Piroe is clearly lacking so much confidence

Daniel Farke was forced into making one change to his starting line-up last night as Patrick Bamford was unable to recover from the knock he picked up at the Riverside.

Joel Piroe was the man Farke opted to bring in to replace Bamford up front ahead of Mateo Joseph, despite how ineffective he was on his last start against Blackburn Rovers.

Somehow, though, Piroe managed to produce an even worse performance at QPR than he did then, with his hold-up play and touch really poor all evening.

Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds post-match, Jon Newsome says the £10.5m man’s lack of confidence is clear for all to see, but was not the only player who struggled in the game.

He said: “Yeah, listen, he (Piroe) was poor today. What can I say really? He was poor, he was poor. He is obviously lacking in confidence, he has been in and out of the side.

“When you are dropped, you are not playing, your confidence takes a dip, but I don’t think it was just Piroe tonight. I think there were a number of others out there.”
