Mohamed Salah drops eight-word message in wake of Jurgen Klopp spat in Liverpool draw today

Liverpool played out a 2-2 draw with West Ham on Saturday to leave their Premier League title hopes in tatters.

The Reds fell behind in east London to a Jarrod Bowen goal just two minutes before the interval.

Liverpool improved after the break and initially turned the game around, with Andy Robertson and a Tomas Soucek own goal putting them in front.

However, Hammers forward Michail Antonio equalised in the 77th minute and the hosts held on for a share of the spoils.

Aside from the result, there was also some off-the-pitch drama (well, the touchline) as Mohamed Salah and Jurgen Klopp were involved in a disagreement.

Klopp opted to bench the 31-year-old for the match at the London Stadium after his poor display away at Everton in midweek.

With Liverpool 2-1 up, the Liverpool boss decided to bring Salah on, but as he prepared to take to the pitch, the two were spotted arguing.

Klopp told TNT Sports – via Sky Sports – after the game: “We spoke already in the dressing room. For me, that’s done.”

Then, at his post-match press conference, Klopp replied when asked if Salah was okay: “That’s my impression, yes.”

However, The Athletic’s James Pearce has now reported on X that Salah declined interview requests after the match and issued an eight-word reply.

“If I speak today, there will be fire,” Pearce quotes Salah as saying.

What comes next for Liverpool?

The result leaves Liverpool third in the Premier League table on 75 points from 35 games and virtually out of title contention, barring a cataclysmic collapse from both Arsenal and Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are top of the table with 77 points from 34 games, while Pep Guardiola’s Citizens are second on 76 points from 33 games.

Liverpool are next in action a week on Sunday, when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
