Sutton says Sullivan has disrespected Moyes with West Ham behaviour

BBC pundit Chris Sutton says majority owner David Sullivan has disrespected David Moyes with his West Ham behaviour.

West Ham have been linked with not one, not two but FOURTEEN managers this week.

David Ornstein sparked a frenzy when he revealed Ruben Amorim had flown in for talks with the Hammers on Monday.

It has been name after name, headline after headline since.

Meanwhile David Moyes has kept his head down this week as he prepared for Liverpool.

Although he had little choice given the atrocious 5-2 defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend.

West Ham salvaged a 2-2 draw with Liverpool in a game which is ultimately pretty useless for either club’s end of season hopes.

Moyes keeps his head down amid West Ham search

There is a feeling among some that the only way Moyes can remain Hammers boss will be if he managed three wins and a draw from the last four games – which would give the club a chance of another European spot.

West Ham have got the draw. Now they just need to beat Chelsea, Luton and Man City.

So it’s easy to see why speculation around the Scot’s future is not going away.

Some believe events of this week have reflected poorly on West Ham, particularly the majority owner.

Chris Sutton says David Sullivan has disrespected Moyes with his West Ham behaviour.

Having met Amorim and – reportedly – Julen Lopetegui too, Sullivan has been criticised by the BBC Sport pundit.

Sutton says Sullivan has disrespected Moyes with behaviour

“All the noise (has been) around the talks they have had with Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim this week,” Sutton said.

“I know clubs have to make plans, but for that to come out the way it did that was really disrespectful to West Ham boss David Moyes when the club have not made an announcement about his future.”

There has been much debate on this subject.

Many feel West Ham should come out and say what is happening with Moyes.

But the Hammers hierarchy – including in response to us – insist no decision will be taken until the end of the season.

If Moyes is leaving, Hammers fans want to know so they can give him a fitting send off at the Luton game.

West Ham have been criticised for talking with other managers while Moyes is still in the job.

But on the flip side, if the club sat and did nothing until the end of the season fans would accuse them of failing to be proactive and do the necessary due diligence on replacing the manager.

Damned if they do, damned if they don’t?

They’re very much stuck between a rock and a hard place right now.

Sutton must remember too that Sullivan and the owners stuck by Moyes on a number of occasions where other owners would have pulled the trigger in the last two seasons.

West Ham have now won just four games in 22 in all competitions this year.

Perhaps Sullivan and the club could be handling things better.

But Moyes has hardly been making an irresistible case for that new deal.

If and when Moyes does leave, West Ham may end up being praised for their forward planning.

Especially with a major rebuild needed requiring 10-12 players this summer.

Whoever the boss is next term, he’ll need to be in place and working with Tim Steidten from the moment the summer transfer window opens.
