Ange Postecoglou says ‘outstanding’ Tottenham player is raring to go vs Arsenal on Sunday

Ange Postecoglou has admitted there is one player at Tottenham Hotspur who is ready to go on Sunday against Arsenal.

The North London Derby will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend as Tottenham look to boost their hopes of European qualification.

Tottenham are going into the game on the back of a two-week break following their emphatic defeat away to Newcastle United.

On the other hand, their rivals have since played four games as they look to add some weight to their title push.

That has allowed Ange Postecoglou with an opportunity to seriously prepare for the upcoming derby at Hotspur Way.

There are a number of players who have been struggling to find their best form of late at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, the Australian has now admitted he thinks there is one player at Spurs who is raring to go on Sunday.

Postecoglou says he has one player at Tottenham who’s excited for Sunday

With two weeks since Tottenham’s last game in the Premier League, it is only natural for the Tottenham players to be desperate for their next game.

And they come no bigger than Sunday’s with a lot on the line for both teams going into the game in N17.

Aston Villa’s game today could well see Spurs fall nine points adrift of the Champions League race – albeit with three games in hand.

But with such a difficult set of fixtures still to play, it would prove extremely difficult for Spurs to turnaround such a deficit.

One player who could certainly provide them with the quality they need to overturn Villa’s lead in fourth spot is their captain, Heung-min Son.

The South Korean has been brilliant as usual this season for Tottenham but he has struggled over the last few games in finding the back of the net.

Speaking from his press conference on Friday, Postecoglou admitted Son will be vital if Spurs are to win on Sunday.

“Yeah look vital because he has got the experience and at least two or three of our guys this will be their first experience of a home north London derby.,” he said.

“You always lean on the guys who have been there, done that and excelled it that. Sonny has definitely done that. He has been a big-game player for this football club for a long time and he’s looking forward to it with the added responsibility this time as the captain.

“He’s been outstanding for us all year and I know he is looking forward to the game. To be fair the whole playing group is looking forward to the game. They’re looking forward to any game at the moment because we’ve just been training for two weeks. Looking forward to seeing how it goes on Sunday.”

Heung-min Son needs to step up if Tottenham are going to qualify for Champions League

It has to be said, Champions League qualification is now looking like a bit of a pipe dream for Tottenham after some of their recent results.

Spurs will certainly need their big name players like Son to step up if they are to even come close to that over the coming weeks.

The South Korean has been able to offer 15 goals and nine assists in the Premier League alone this season.

But his last three games have proved a bit of a struggle for the 31-year-old.

With no Harry Kane to offer the club their usual goals in the North London Derby, Son will be looking to add to the brace he scored against them earlier in the term.
