Daily Mail journo noticed something at London Stadium he hasn't seen at any other ground this term

West Ham United drew 2-2 with Liverpool at the London Stadium in the Premier League this afternoon.

It was a real topsy turvy Premier League clash at the London Stadium today, after West Ham took the lead, got pegged back, went behind and then eventually equalised against Liverpool.

Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring for the Hammers before Andy Robertson restored parity for the visitors – ex Hammers coach Mark Warburton criticised Alphonse Areola for failing to save Robertson’s effort.

Liverpool then took the lead through an Areola own goal midway through the second-half. Then, Michail Antonio earned us a draw late on with a brilliant header, but that point did us no good really.

David Moyes needed a win today, if we were to have any chance whatsoever of finishing inside the top seven.

Now, with our European hopes all but over, the season will undoubtedly peter out into somewhat of a damp squib.

The London Stadium felt like a morgue at times today, and the atmosphere inside our Stratford home is something that needs some real work on going forward…

The Hammers fans usually respond to huge games against the likes of Liverpool.

However, today just felt flat as a pancake from the very first whistle.

Daily Mail reporter Lewis Steele suggested that the pre-match atmosphere at London Stadium today was the flattest that he has seen all season:

Steele is spot on. The atmosphere was completely dead leading up to the game, and then on into the match itself, especially inside the first-half.

However, there is one big caveat to this. Thousands of Hammers fans were locked outside of the ground before the game due to ticketing issues, up until around 10 minutes after the match kicked off.

The London Stadium has rarely generated brilliant atmospheres, and it certainly wasn’t bouncing during the West Ham vs Liverpool clash today.

It must be said though, it’s hard to generate a good atmosphere when our team sits back and waits for things to happen 95% of the time.

Hopefully that will all change when a new manager comes into the London Stadium to replace Moyes in the summer.
