Newark and district cyclists out in force in international races and races all over the United Kingdom

It was a difficult weekend for Newark cyclist Isabel Darvill.

Darvill racing for the UCI Continental Team, Doltcini-O`Shea had a weekend that did not go to plan as she took part in the 39th EPZ Omloop Van Borsele 133.5 km 1.1 Elite Womens Race in Heerenhoel, The Netherlands.

She crashed out after only 21 minutes into the race which also saw her two teammates fall as well.

The following day, on Sunday, she decided attempt the Denderhoutem Kermesse in Belgium as she was feeling better.

Darvill was at the front for most of the race with a good chance of a win when she was again involved in another crash 2km from the finish.

After enduring these crashes both to the same side of her body, she is now training for the forthcoming Elite Women`s Rapha Lincoln Grand Prix on Sunday, May 12.

Closer to home, Jack Levick racing for the Rose Race Team scored his first win of the Season in the VTTA East Midlands ten mile time trial on the local Elston to East Bridgford course on Saturday in a time of 19 minutes and 26 seconds averaging over 30mph in very cold and blustery conditions.

Charlie Hoyle now racing for the Shibden - Apex Race Team finished seventh in the E/1/2/3 Men`s Category Race in Round four of the Haus Race Team-Darley Moor Series in Derbyshire on Saturday.

Charlotte Lissaman, a former Newark Castle Cycling Club rider who is now now racing for the Grity Race Team finished ninth in the Youth Female race at round one of the British Cycling National Mountain Bike Cross Country Series held at Kirroughtree Forest, Newton Stewart, Dumfries, Scotland.

Previously, she had finished third in the youth girls XCO race at the Crank It Sherwood Pines Weekender last month.

Today will see the start of Newark Castle Cycling Club`s 8 mile Road Bike Time Trial Series on the familiar undulating Flawborough course.
