In a recent video shared on the CBS Sports Golazo TikTok channel, Reo-Coker had this to say about Phil Foden and what he’s done on the pitch this season.
He said: “The development of Phil Foden and what we’re seeing now, he is the next Manchester City star.
“He’s just taking his game to another level and there’s nothing greater than having one of the greatest managers of Pep Guardiola.
“If Manchester City win the Premier League title, Phil Foden has to be the Player of the Season.”
Phil Foden has flourished this season
This season has seen Foden start 29 of the 31 Premier League games he’s appeared in, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists.
In comparison to last season, the midfielder scored 11 goals and delivered five assists from 22 starts in 32 league games.
This highlights how much more prominent the Englishman, who is picking up a weekly wage of £225k-a-week, has been in the City team this term.
His overall performances have earned the England international an impressive season rating of 7.52/10 from WhoScored, leaving only one non-City player with a higher rating in the division.
In terms of his being a potential candidate to be named as the Player of the Season, Guardiola said that Foden should definitely be in the running for it based on his performance in this campaign.
