After logging a top-five recruiting class last cycle, Miami is once again on the hunt to compile another elite pledge list.

Thus far, Mario Cristobal and the staff in Coral Gables have laid the foundation for one of the top classes in its conference. As of June 29, the Hurricanes’ class ranks No. 17 in the nation and No. 3 in the ACC, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Headlined by elite in-state talent, the Canes’ class now features 14 total commitments.

Miami Class Breakdown

Miami has added eight commits in June — four of whom are four-stars. Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna four-star cornerback Chris Ewald is the No. 20 corner in the cycle and headlines the new additions.

Miami Central four-star safety Amari Wallace, Sanford (Fla.) Seminole four-star interior offensive lineman Max Buchanan and Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military four-star EDGE Herbert Scroggins highlight some of the other new additions.

Tampa Armwood four-star running back Girard Pringle announced his commitment at the end of March and he now sits atop the class as the No. 9 RB in the nation. Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez and Leo (Ind.) four-star tight end Brock Schott are both top-200 pledges.

Cincinnati Lakota West four-star TE Luka Gilbert is also in the class as a top-15 player at the position alongside Schott. Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton four-star quarterback Luke Nickel was the first pledge in the 2025 class and he’s now the No. 25 signal-caller in the cycle.

Other recent commitments include the likes of Miami Central three-star LB Ezekiel Marcelin, Birmingham (Ala.) Parker three-star cornerback Timothy Merritt and Orlando Christian Prep three-star offensive tackle Demetrius Campbell.

Top Offensive Commit: RB Girard Pringle

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound burner chose to commit to the Canes while on a visit in March and has since returned to Coral Gables twice, including for an official visit this month. On3 ranks Pringle higher than other recruiting services, as he checks in at No. 106 overall and No. 6 in the backfield in the 2025 On300.

Armwood High School head coach Evan Davis broke down what Miami is getting in Pringle with CaneSport in March:

“He’s definitely an alpha dog,” Davis said. “I think he’s really good with his teammates and learning what it takes to be a leader. He’s working with others, encouraging and pushing them to be on the same mental level as him in all aspects of the game.”

Top Defensive Commit: CB Chris Ewald

Miami was long considered one of, if not the team to beat in Ewald’s recruitment. Georgia pushed hard, but the in-state corner made the call for the Canes on June 27. At 5-foot-11.5 and 170 pounds, Ewald is the No. 163 overall prospect and No. 20 corner in the nation.

Chaminade-Madonna head coach Dameon Jones gave CaneSport the scouting report on Ewald upon his commitment:

“His intelligence and understanding of the game,” Jones told CaneSport when asked what stood out the most about Ewald on the field. “He does a great job of understanding his job and everyone else’s job. His IQ is off the charts.”

“He’s going on four years here at Chaminade, and I think his game took the biggest leap heading into his sophomore year,” Jones said. “He’s just kind of been a lockdown corner. He’s been able to develop his technique and savviness to a whole new level.”
